What a great question. I don't think ATC tracked it. I don't remember that being in the dialogue of pilot reporting incident.

Flight 800 still bothers me. Typically, if there catastrophic parts failure, the entire fleet for that aircraft type is grounded until the problem is resolved. I don't recall that happening. I am aware that multiple witnesses reported seeing a missile. Seems like I also remember the fleet admiral for the east coast was immediately relocated. Why?

It's interesting that news reports are too frequently unsatisfactory in their explanations, which just result in more questions.

My son and I fly four to five times a year. I really want to know the skies are safe.
