What if they weren't morons, but just humans having difficulties? What if they were just navigating a hazard that you weren't privy to?

Back in pre-covid life, i was in a mall, pushing a stroller. The mall was packed! Pre-Covid. A child fell in front of me. I stopped. The parents that lost the child kept going. They were arguing amongst themselves and navigating and not paying attention to child that was struggling to keep up. The person behind me yelled "Keep swimming, keep swimming."

If I hadn't stopped, kid would have been trampled. As it was, people streaming around me mad, looking to see what was wrong with me trampled the kid, and further separated kid from family.

This is not to say there are drivers less skilled, and or not paying attention. That's human, too. I consider myself fairly attentive and skilled at driving, but I have also made mistakes. A good driver doesn't assume stupidity, they simply navigate around an obstacle.
