AI Technology
No one stuttered, or even blinked, but it has happened. You probably didn’t hear about this, unless you have someone in the transcribing industry. You know, someone who answers phones for hearing impaired, and or transcribes television for hearing impaired, but there was a massive lay off. I learned about it, when a person was assessed for mental health. Apparently 300 people in the Dallas Metroplex were made redundant. Thousands of transcribing jobs were lost in India and the Philippines. It turns out, one of the best paying jobs in the Philippines was transcribing for the hearing impaired.
Artificial Intelligence has improved so much, it can out transcribe humans. And why would you pay fallible humans to do this? Humans need breaks, and compensation and shift work, and holidays. Employing humans is a messy affair. They’re such need little bastards. You have to feed them and pretend you care… The employers desperate for employees are advertising, do they even pretend they care? I are they advertising ‘work here’ with sticks, or carrots? “We need workers, stop being greedy…” Seriously? Is it greed to point the disparity between upper management and CEOs? Employee compensation has been out of whack for a long time. How many employees at minimum wage could one CEO salary bring in? Can a CEO be replaced by AI? It frees up money for front line employees?
Just wait, employers, your job, too, can be done better, faster, and more merciless by an AI, following the directions…
