Drew Carey is ten years older than me. He wears my father’s glasses. I am as dopey, frumpy, sophisticatedly unsophisticated as he was on the Drew Carey show. You know you are old when your seven year old tells you that you’re not funny anymore. ‘You’re just annoying, dad.’ Cue up that Star Wars quote. “The circle is now complete, old man. Once I was but the student, but now I am the Master of jokes.”

You know you’re old when you’re only funny in your own world. At least I had a good sound track…

I have become the dad joke

“I am afraid for the calendar. It’s days are numbered.” You can thank Blair Donovan for that one. She appreciates dads. I mean, dad jokes. Probably dad’s too, even if she does roll her eyes.

If I do say it right, my son will give me a hearty laugh, one that just keeps bursting out. The other day, in our story time, we and our make believe friends were on a boat feeding dolphins. There was a line of dolphins waiting to be served. Some were impatient…
