Who to Trust about UFOs
When it comes to this UFO story humanity is tackling, there is so much spin in multiple directions, sometimes the safest space to stand is in skepticism. Skepticism is a healthy philosophy to cultivate- just enough to hold buyer beware paranoia, but not so much you’re closed off to new ways of being. When sorting UFO sources, who do you turn to when the playing field has more town square criers than a college campus with credit card sales people more seductive than drug-reps wearing minidresses and carrying food, flirting with doctors? College kids don’t have a chance!
We’re all in college and we’re being schooled.
Cognitive dissonance, knowing something, but acting or believing in ways contrary to data, is something all humans experience to some degree. An example of cognitive dissonance often used is people who smoke, even though they have asthma and will tell you smoking is bad while coughing in your face. I would argue that is not dissonance. They know smoking is bad, and they have made a decision to keep smoking; conflict resolved. I would argue cognitive dissonance is the oscillation between one thing and its opposite, with the inability to commit to a path.
