Life and Death
Whether it’s John Grisham, The Byrds, or the Bible, there is a philosophic treatise that promotes a time to kill, and time to refrain. Death is a serious business, not just a philosophic artifact. It may be a result of economics as we understand it today. I live in Texas, everyone can carry law, you have the right to kill or be killed. And don’t worry, this isn’t an anti-gun thing. I am seriously exploring the subject, mostly because my 7 year old is interested in the subject. That in a moment. I have to admit, in theory- I am pro killing? I say I am not, but then- consider the movies I enjoyed. The Professional. Kill Bill. God of War. Grosse Point Blank. Pulp Fiction… Even in the new Lost in Space, I am thinking- just blow Doctor Smith out the airlock already! I am seriously disturbed by Smith. And I love Parker Posey. Doctor Smith needs to die.
There are ethics to killing folks. Two people carrying weapons, fair is fair. Usually, women and children are off limits. Nothing can mess a soldier up more than having to shoot a kid who is armed and or armed and being used as a shield. That really happens, and I have counseled some folks who have yet recovered- even while knowing in doing so they saved their squad and themselves. To a one, they state had they been alone, they might not have pulled the trigger. They know in saying that, they would be dead.
