War, Not War

Why Are There Weapons of Mass Destruction

Maybe wars are necessary. Maybe sometimes humans have to figure out conflicts the hard way. Do humans share any universal conventions?

All my life, I was told the US was the good guys. Well, I live in the US, I guess that’s par for the course. In the US, there are lots of folks, many of them academics, that want to destroy the US from within. I am more interested in wars. Why aren’t Cluster Bombs illegal? Seriously. These monsters toss bombs that go undetected for years past any conflict, and more than not, it is a child in a field who will pay the price for something that had nothing to do with that child. The US makes these. They use these. They give these to other people to use. WHY?

Do the Russians get told they are the good guys? The Ukrainians? Doesn’t everyone on Earth, regardless of how we divide ourselves, think they’re the good guys?

Most people in the world agree on this: we should protect children from harm. Not just our own children, but all children. Most countries have a minimum standard that if not met, there is interference by the state to ensure the well being of children. And so, how would cluster bombs be consistent with that minimum standard?
