Why Believe In Chakras
Perhaps you think science only deals with absolutes, but then, that would be unscientific…
Consciousness is poorly understood. It is immeasurable. We know it exists, but it’s not quantifiable given our present understanding. Psychologists operate within a pardadigmic structure of unconscious, conscious, and superconscious. Sometimes it’s referred to as Id, Ego, and Superego. You will not find these structures in a dissected brain, nor an fMRI scan, but our theories are built on the solidity of those structures. Are they fiction or are they real? What makes them more real than the chakras?
The eastern world adopted the concept of ego fairly fast, suggesting we should kill the ego. The ego is necessary. It is the mediator between the opposing forces on a continuum. The concept was given to us by Freud. Jung developed it further, and almost everyone has their own about how to map this out.
Concepts of auras, chakras, and energy systems like Chi are much older. They were not less functional than the triad we use today, but many will say they’re not consistent. Ours isn’t consistent. Why would any other subtle system be more consistent than our own understanding consciousness?
