Homeless
Homeless is a serious problem. We have likely ignored it for way too long. In reducing poverty, we likely need to establish a standard of what the bottom looks like. People should not be taxed out of their houses, or bankrupt out of their houses by medical bills, or the loss of an earner. There needs to be a minimum living arrangement of property ownership that can’t be taken by the state for any reasons. People need a safe places to sleep. Cars are probably safer than tents, in terms of people sneaking up on you to do harm. Why is it illegal to sleep in cars precisely? What should people do that have nothing?
I am certainly not saying that society should have to spend billions to solve a problem. There is evidence to suggest that money allocated to homeless are not helping the situation, though certainly helping property owners. What I am suggesting is if people earn a certain level of stability, even if that’s just a paid off car- let’s not rob them of that minimum stability to have nothing. People with nothing will more likely need more assistance to recover than those who at least have a leg to stand on.
There are some people who will always need help, like subsidy living, or free living, and medical care. People are not equal in abilities. We have ranges of intellectual, emotional, and physical capabilities. All…
